Privacy

Umber doesn't collect any data. There's no account, no analytics and no advertising.

On your iPhone

Your canisters, coffees, bag photos, ratings and grind settings are stored on your iPhone. Reading a bag label uses Apple's on-device text recognition and Apple Intelligence, so the photos and their text never leave the phone.

iCloud sync

With Pro, a copy is kept in your private iCloud account through Apple's CloudKit, so it reaches your other devices. It's stored under your Apple Account; we can't see it. Apple's privacy policy covers iCloud.

Location

If you allow it, your location is used when you add a coffee to suggest nearby shops through Apple Maps. Umber doesn't keep your location.

Reminders

If you turn them on, the reminders that ask how a shot tasted are scheduled on your iPhone. Nothing is sent to us.

NFC stickers and this website

A registered sticker holds a link to this website with the sticker's chip number. With Umber installed, the link opens the app. Without it, the link opens this page in your browser. This website uses no cookies and no analytics; like any website, its host may keep standard server logs.

Purchases

Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple handles payment; we never see your payment details.

Siri, Shortcuts and widgets

Siri requests are handled by Apple. Widgets read a small file shared between the app and its widgets on your iPhone.

Deleting your data

Delete a coffee in the app, or delete the app to remove everything on your iPhone. With iCloud sync, also remove Umber's data in Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
